The brand first launched in 2008 when it produced headwear under the moniker of Bhode & Company; a nod to this early heritage is signified on the current headwear labels.
Taking its name from the term forebode [to predict a future event], the brand aims to reinvent tried-and-tested classic menswear silhouettes to meet present-day demands and aesthetics.
At Bhode our philosophy is to provide you with 'everyday' garments that are a joy to wear, that will continue to look good throughout its lifetime, and will grow with you for years to come.
Drawing inspiration from a wide range of sources, Bhode is highly influenced by industrial workwear, the hard-wearing and functional aspects of military apparel, and 90's youth subcultures. Through its work, Bhode continues to celebrate British working heritage, with a true consideration for tradition and attention to detail.
The design ethos of the brand centres around using the best quality fabrics for each garment. Accordingly, we source all our fabrics from Japanese, English, Italian or Portuguese mills — the result is a garment that is designed to last for decades to come. With all of our apparel garments being manufactured in small-batch European factories, we always ensure that there is no excess production.
Sustainability is a key focus at the design and production stages of all our garments. We try to reduce the carbon footprint as much as possible by sourcing local fabrics from trusted sources, and with this we also believe in transparency, and are proud to display these production details on the product description of each garment. Furthermore, all of our core jersey range is made from Organic cotton in Portugal and we are also truly proud to manufacture all of our knitwear in the historic town of Hawick, Scotland. If somehow your garment does need a little extra love and attention after all the use, we have even included a needle, thread and spare button for your very own repair kit.
With quality and authenticity at the centre of its focus, Bhode aims to be the apparel choice of the modern workwear aficionado.
'A departure from the expected.'
